Understanding the Engineering Benchmark Reviews: Depending upon the semester your student matriculated into the Clark School of Engineering, they will be reviewed either at 60 University of Maryland credits or two semesters after they are first reviewed for the 45 Credit Review. All students, regardless of matriculation semester or major must pass the 45 Credit Review. Students who matriculated from Fall 2005-Spring 2009 must pass the 2nd and 3rd benchmarks at 60 and then 90 University of Maryland credits respectively. Students who matriculated in the Fall 2009 semester to present must pass the 2nd Benchmark Review two semesters after the 45 Credit Review. The 3rd Benchmark Review occurs two semesters after the 2nd Benchmark Review.

90 Credit Benchmark/3rd Benchmark Review: This review, unlike the 45 Credit Review, varies for each engineering student, based on their major. Students who do not pass the review can be asked to change their major out of engineering.

Graduation Application: Students must complete the Graduation Worksheet process which includes: attaching a copy of the Degree Navigator Online Audit, applying online to graduate and completing the online Senior Survey. All of these steps must be completed and paperwork turned in by the end of Schedule Adjustment (the first ten days of class in a semester). If a student does not complete this process and all other steps in a timely fashion, they will not graduate.

Policy Violation: A review of pertinent Academic Policies is available online. Students who have extenuating circumstances may ask for permission for an Exception to Policy form found under Forms. Permission should be requested through a formal Petition for an Exception to Policy online form which should include all documentation of the extenuating circumstances as well as a personal statement by the student to the Petitions Committee. NOTE: Approval of petitions is not guaranteed.

Residency Requirement: Students should plan to take their final 30 credits at the University of Maryland. NOTE: Study abroad semesters or programs can be an exception to this requirement.
