Aerospace Engineering
The Department is seeking highly qualified tenure-track faculty to complement its core research areas, which include aerodynamics and propulsion, smart and composite structures, space systems, rotorcraft, autonomous vehicle systems and small smart aerospace systems. Towards this goal, the department is seeking candidates with demonstrated competency and academic leadership in the areas of space systems and human factors, as well as satellite design. Additionally, candidates working in the areas of micro- and nano- air vehicles; morphing aircraft systems; V/stol systems; human factors; green aviation; wind turbines; and hypersonic aerodynamics and propulsion are also encouraged to apply.

Civil & Environmental Engineering
Seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in environmental engineering. The purpose of the position is to fill the need for teaching and research in the Environmental Engineering discipline with an academic background in in water sustainability and biological processes, possibly including biological energy conversion processes.

Electrical & Computer Engineering
Appointments at all ranks will be considered. Candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor should have a high potential for both teaching and research. Candidates at the ranks of Associate and Full Professor should have distinguished records in research and a strong interest in educational programs. Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in the following areas: Cyber Security; Cyber Physical Systems and Embedded Systems.

Institute for Systems Research
We seek applicants with a doctoral degree who have research expertise in model-based systems engineering, formal approaches to engineering design and validation, requirements engineering, and multi-objective optimization and trade-off analysis, with appropriate connections to an engineering and/or biological domain. The opportunity provides a tenure track position in a Clark School department (Aerospace, Electrical and Computer, Mechanical, Civil and Environmental, Chemical and Biomolecular, or BioEngineering) with a joint appointment to the Institute for Systems Research.

Materials Science & Engineering
The Departments of Materials Science and Engineering  and Mechanical Engineering  seek outstanding individuals for tenured/tenure-track faculty position(s) in the areas of computational materials science, first principles methods to materials design, multi-scale modeling methods, and/or computational micro-/nano-mechanics. Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. We seek candidates who can transcend traditional boundaries and establish a vibrant research and teaching program at the University of Maryland. The tenure home can be either in materials science and engineering or mechanical engineering. Academic rank is open depending on qualifications, but we expect at least one position to be filled at the junior faculty level.
