The Women's Community: Graduate Students

WECE
The Graduate Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering student group has gained official status as a student organization at the University of Maryland. The group, which was started in the fall of 2006, is dedicated to fostering a sense of community among graduate female students in the ECE department. The group's new president is Mahsa Dornajafi. The faculty advisors for the Graduate Women in ECE group are Professors Kris Rosfjord and Min Wu.

This room is available during business hours (8:30 am - 5:00 pm) with advanced reservations.

	Clara Man Cheung Civil and Environmental Engineering Accomplishment: Won the Gaylord E. Christle Scholarship from the Project Management Institute.

	Daphne Fuentevilla Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Accomplishment: Won International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam Student Award for an outstanding presentation.

	Angela Fu Bioengineering Research Interest: Virus detection using molecularly imprinted polymers.

	Deborah Sweet Goldberg Bioengineering Accomplishment: A 2009 Fischell Fellow, she received a best paper award at the 26th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference for her presentation "Mechanisms of Poly(amido amine) Dendrimer Transepithelial Transport and Tight Junction Modulation in Caco-2 Cells."

	Rachel Idikula Computer Engineering Research Interest: Computer architecture.

	Woon Kim Civil Engineering Accomplishment: Received an Ann G. Wylie Dissertation Fellowship.

	Ria Malhan Aerospace Engineering Accomplishment: Was awarded Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship for the 2010 –2011 academic year.

	Kate Malinowski Electrical and Computer Engineering Accomplishment: Received an Advancing Science in America scholar award from the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation.

	Rochelle Mellish Aerospace Engineering Accomplishment: Was selected to receive an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Minority Ph.D. Program Scholarship from the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering toward her Ph.D. studies with the Clark School.
