Booz Allen Hamilton Distinguished Colloquium in Electrical and Computer Engineering
"Innovating with Analytics"
Dr. Brian Keller Booz Allen Hamilton
Abstract:
The combination of data collection, new technologies, and open source software have set a foundation for innovation across industries that is changing the products we consume, the healthcare we receive, and the services the government provides us. These innovations result from viewing data as a resource or raw material input into a repeatable analytic process that creates data products. In traditional analytics, where data is used to solve a particular business problem, the data and analytics are highly visible to the consumers. Data products, in contrast, are services or products built on data, and the consumers of data products often are not aware of the data and analytics required to create the products. We will discuss the foundation of data, technology, and software, how to create data products, and the resulting impact in the context of several consulting engagements.
