Four Faculty Earn NSF CAREER Awards

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Awards to four Clark School faculty members:

  • Helim Aranda-Espinoza, bioengineering, for Mechanotaxis of Axons and Neurons
  • Andre Marshall, fire protection engineering, for Exploring Jet Fragmentation and Atomization for Combustion and Fire Suppression Systems
  • Nuno Martins, electrical and computer engineering and Institute for Systems Research (ISR), for Distributed Control of Dynamic Systems Using a Wireless Communication Medium: Two New Paradigms
  • Miao Yu, mechanical engineering and ISR, for Biology-Inspired Miniature Optical Directional Microphones: Bridging Biological Systems and Sensor Technology

The NSF CAREER program supports the career development of outstanding junior faculty who most effectively integrate research and education within the goals and missions of their programs, departments, and schools.
