Professional Bioprocess Training Workshops Offered

Untitled Document

The Clark School's Biotech Program is hosting a two-day Fermentation Microbiology Workshop, as well as a three-day Downstream Processing and Protein Purification Workshop in June.

The workshops, offered in cooperation with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, will be held June 12-16.

Fermentation Microbiology Workshop (June 12-13)

This workshop provides hands-on experience and instruction with various fermentation systems and acquaints attendees with the techniques, methodologies, principles and applications of aerobic bacterial and fungal fermentation.

Participants not only learn the principles of bacterial and fungal fermentation scale-up at the bench, but also recent advances and up-to-date applications of this methodology.

Downstream Processing & Protein Purification Workshop (June 14-16)

This three-day workshop, held in cooperation with GE Healthcare, features downstream processing and protein purification techniques. The workshop provides hands-on laboratory exercises and classroom instruction on recovery and purification strategies for biotechnology products, especially proteins.

Participants integrate theory with practice, while hands-on laboratory exercises focus on state-of-the-art techniques in the purification of biotechnology products.
