Clark School Participates in MURI Programs

Several Clark School faculty members are involved in three different research projects that have been awarded Multidisciplinary University Research Initiatives (MURIs) by the U.S. Department of Defense:

  • John Baras (electrical and computer engineering [ECE]/Institute for Systems Research [ISR]), Nuno Martins (ECE/ISR) and Eyad Abed (ECE/ISR) are involved in a MURI awarded to Georgia Tech and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research on "Distributed Learning and Information Dynamics in Networked Autonomous Systems."
  • Shihab Shamma (ECE/ISR) is working with Johns Hopkins and the Office of Naval Research on "Figure-Ground Processing, Saliency and Guided Attention for Analysis of Large Natural Scenes."
  • Rama Chellappa (ECE/University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies) is involved with two other UM faculty members in a MURI awarded to Rice University and the Army Research Office, "Opportunistic Sensing for Object & Activity Recognition."
