Corporate Partner L-3 Names Inaugural Fellows

L-3 Communications, a major contractor in defense and homeland security, Clark School Corporate Partner, and recent donor to the school of $1 million in fellowships, scholarships, and program support, has named five Clark School students to win L-3 Graduate Research Fellowships for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Ph.D. students Chad Ropp (electrical and computer engineering [ECE]), Jessica Sheehan (mechanical engineering), Kevin Galloway (ECE and Institute for Systems Research [ISR]), Keith Gregorczyk (materials science and engineering and ISR) and Greg Gremillion (aerospace engineering and ISR) make up the inaugural class of L-3 Graduate Research Fellows.

L-3 Graduate Research Fellowships annually support five Ph.D. candidates in the last three years of a Clark School Ph.D. who conduct research at either the Institute for Systems Research, the Maryland Robotics Center, the UM Energy Research Center, the Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles Laboratory, the UM Rotorcraft Center, the Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering or research in cybersecurity. The company seeks to increase awareness of itself among Clark School students and thus encourage recruitment.

See a recent article about L-3's relationship with the Clark School in the most recent issue of E@M Magazine.
