Michelle Rosen Named a 2012 Top New Face of Engineering

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has announced that Michelle Rosen, a senior mechanical engineering major at the Clark School, has been selected as the Top New Face in the first annual publication of EWeek's 2012 New Faces of Engineering College Edition. Rosen was the top student chosen by ASME and is one of 15 students nationwide highlighted by EWeek.

Rosen, a Gemstone student and a member of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma, currently has a GPA of 3.92. She has also interned at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, where she used MATLAB in designing and modeling deployable solar panels for a small satellite. In addition to her internship experience, Rosen serves as an Clark School Ambassador and volunteers with elementary, middle, and high school girls in order to increase their interest in engineering. After graduation, she plans to pursue a doctorate in mechanical engineering and hopes to become a research professor.

Since 2003, National Engineers Week Foundation has honored young engineering professionals with its New Faces of Engineering award. Winners are recognized for academic excellence, leadership within student organizations, outstanding communication skills, non-engineering related community service and involvement in the engineering industry. This is the first year the awards included college students.
