Clark School Undergrads Sweep Aero Conference

Clark School students won six out of the 10 awards presented at the 2012 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Region I Young Professionals Conference.

There were 5 awards given in each of the undergraduate and graduate submissions. Clark School students in the undergraduate category took first, second and third place:

    • 1st Place: Cody Karcher
      Design and Manufacture of the Cockpit and Transmission for a Human Powered Helicopter
    • 2nd Place: Yit Akyuz
      Using Dielectic Electro Active Polymer Sensors to Detect Pressure Change over a Smooth Surface
    • 3rd Place: Jose Mondragon
      The Implementation of Vortex Generators for Ground Vehichles

Jonathan Geerts took 2nd place in the graduate student category for his paper titled, Effects of Mean and Fluctuating Pressure Gradients on Boundary Layer Turbulence. Honorable mentions in the graduate category went to Justin Brannan for his paper titled Satellite Servicing: Modeling Flexible Satellite Dynamics, and Elena Shrestha for her paper titled, Design and Control of a Cycloidal-Rotor Aircraft.
